frozen watermelon margarita recipe - featured image

A simple and quick 3-ingredient frozen watermelon margarita that is icy cold, refreshing, and perfect for summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups (450g) frozen seedless watermelon cubes
  • 1 cup (240ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice
  • Optional garnishes: coarse salt or Tajín for rimming glasses, lime wedges, watermelon slice

Instructions

  1. Freeze watermelon cubes if not pre-frozen: cut fresh seedless watermelon into 1-inch cubes and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Juice fresh limes until you have about 1/4 cup (60ml) of juice. Strain out seeds.
  3. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip into coarse salt or Tajín to rim the glasses.
  4. Add frozen watermelon cubes, tequila blanco, and fresh lime juice to a high-speed blender. Pulse on high until smooth and slushy, about 30-45 seconds. Add a splash of cold water or more lime juice if needed to adjust consistency.
  5. Taste and adjust flavor by adding more frozen watermelon or lime juice if desired. Blend briefly again to combine.
  6. Pour into prepared glasses and garnish with a lime wedge or watermelon slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use frozen watermelon cubes instead of fresh to avoid watering down the drink. Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled for brightness. Chill blender jar before blending for extra cold texture. Serve immediately for best icy texture. Optional to rim glasses with coarse salt or Tajín. Adjust tequila amount to taste but avoid overpowering the drink.
