This Quick Savory Chex Mix with Ranch and Rosemary is a crunchy, herby, and tangy snack that takes only 25 minutes from start to finish. Using a simple bag-shaking method for even coating, it’s the perfect crowd-pleaser for game nights, potlucks, or weeknight cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel twists
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (unsalted preferred)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 packet (about 1 ounce) ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, if nuts are unsalted)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper (optional but recommended).
  3. Combine the Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, pretzel twists, and mixed nuts in a large zip-top bag. Seal and shake gently to mix.
  4. Melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals until fully melted (about 40-60 seconds). Let cool for a minute.
  5. Stir the ranch seasoning mix, chopped fresh rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt (if using), and black pepper into the melted butter until combined.
  6. Pour the butter mixture over the dry ingredients in the bag. Seal tightly, leaving a little air inside, and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds, turning the bag to coat evenly.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove the pan and stir gently with a spatula.
  9. Bake for another 10-15 minutes, until slightly darker and dry to the touch (total 25-30 minutes).
  10. Let cool completely on the baking sheet (at least 30 minutes) to allow crisping.
  11. Break up any large clumps with your hands.
  12. Transfer to a serving bowl or airtight container.

Notes

The bag method is a game-changer for even coating and minimal cleanup. Fresh rosemary is preferred for brighter flavor; if using dried, use 1 tablespoon. Do not overbake—the mix continues to crisp as it cools. Cool completely before storing to avoid sogginess. Flavors improve after a day or two.
