quick high school locker snack mix - featured image

A no-bake snack mix made with pretzels, chocolate, and peanut butter that comes together in under 10 minutes. Perfect for on-the-go snacking, this sweet-and-salty treat is a crowd-pleaser that requires only simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups pretzels, broken into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional mix-ins: ½ cup mini marshmallows, ¼ cup dried cranberries, ¼ cup chopped nuts (almonds or peanuts), ¼ cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Break pretzels into bite-sized pieces (about ½-inch chunks).
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until smooth and glossy (about 1 to 1½ minutes total).
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Add broken pretzels to the chocolate mixture. Gently fold until every piece is evenly coated. If using optional mix-ins, fold them in now.
  5. Spread the coated pretzel mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer. Clusters are fine.
  6. Using a fine-mesh sieve, sprinkle powdered sugar evenly over the mixture.
  7. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes (or freeze for 5-7 minutes) until the chocolate is firm.
  8. Break the mixture into clusters of varying sizes. Store in an airtight container or ziplock bag.

Notes

Don’t overheat the chocolate—microwave in 30-second bursts. Use room temperature peanut butter for easier mixing. Let the mix set completely for best texture. Double the batch as it disappears fast. For unsalted pretzels, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top after powdered sugar.
