Adorable mummy pigs in a blanket made with crescent roll dough and cocktail hot dogs, served with a tangy-sweet honey mustard dip. A quick and fun Halloween dinner or party snack that kids love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 cocktail-sized hot dogs or small sausages
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Mustard seeds or black sesame seeds (for eyes)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water to make egg wash. Set aside.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Pinch seams together to form a smooth rectangle.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice dough lengthwise into 8-10 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  5. Wrap a strip of dough around each hot dog, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Overlap dough slightly as you wrap.
  6. Place wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  7. Brush each mummy with egg wash.
  8. Press 2 mustard seeds (or black sesame seeds) into the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy to create eyes.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until dough is golden brown and puffed.
  10. While mummies bake, make the dip: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and paprika (if using).
  11. Let mummies cool on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before serving with honey mustard dip.

Notes

For best results, use cocktail-sized hot dogs. Avoid jumbo hot dogs as they don’t wrap well. Mustard seeds stay put during baking; if using mustard dots, add after baking. The dip can be made up to 3 days ahead. Leftover mummies can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes.
