Flavorful Fig and Prosciutto Flatbread with Goat Cheese and Hot Honey

A quick and easy gourmet flatbread combining sweet figs, salty prosciutto, creamy goat cheese, and a spicy hot honey drizzle for a perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
  • ยฝ teaspoon instant yeast
  • ยฝ teaspoon salt
  • โ…“ cup warm water (80ml)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 45 fresh figs, sliced (or dried figs soaked in warm water)
  • 4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 3 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey (store-bought or homemade with honey and chili flakes)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil; stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead dough by hand on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add more flour if sticky.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 475ยฐF (245ยฐC). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 10×14 inch oval or rectangle.
  7. Transfer dough to parchment paper or baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  8. Arrange sliced figs evenly over the dough, scatter crumbled goat cheese, lay prosciutto slices on top, and sprinkle rosemary if using.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until crust is golden and crispy and cheese is slightly melted.
  10. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle hot honey over the flatbread.
  11. Let cool for a minute or two, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust or a baking sheet for convenience. Avoid overbaking to keep figs fresh and prosciutto tender. Hot honey can be homemade by infusing honey with chili flakes. Dough can be prepared the night before and refrigerated. For gluten-free, substitute flour with gluten-free blend; for dairy-free, use vegan cream cheese and skip prosciutto or use plant-based alternatives.
