A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip with a festive spider web design, perfect for Halloween parties. This low-effort, high-reward recipe converts even the most stubborn cream cheese haters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (12.5 oz each) chunk chicken breast, drained
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 23 black olive slices (optional)
  • Tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crusty bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Drain and shred the canned chicken using two forks.
  3. Beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add the buffalo wing sauce and ranch dressing, mixing on low until combined.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken and 1 cup of cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  6. Spread the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish in an even layer.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and all of the Monterey Jack cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 18-22 minutes until edges are bubbly and top is golden brown.
  9. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Spoon sour cream into a small zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe concentric circles on top of the dip. Drag a toothpick from the center outward through the circles to create a spider web design. Place olive slices as spiders if desired.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese and vegan shredded cheese. For a lower-fat option, use Neufchâtel cream cheese and reduced-fat shredded cheese. The spider web design should be added right before serving to prevent the sour cream from melting. Leftover dip keeps in the fridge for up to 4 days and reheats well.
