This spider web chocolate bark with pretzels is a quick, budget-friendly treat that looks like it came from a fancy bakery. With a dark chocolate base, salty pretzels, and a delicate white chocolate web pattern, it’s perfect for Halloween parties or any time you need a sweet and crunchy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces dark chocolate chips or bars, chopped (60% cacao recommended)
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists (salted)
  • 1/2 cup pretzel sticks, broken into 1-inch pieces
  • 6 ounces white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening, divided
  • Black gel food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a standard baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Spread the mini pretzels and broken pretzel sticks evenly across the sheet in a single layer.
  2. Place the dark chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each round, until most chips are melted (about 1-2 minutes). Stir until completely smooth. Add 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil and stir until glossy.
  3. Pour the melted dark chocolate over the pretzels. Use a rubber spatula to spread it evenly, coating every pretzel.
  4. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil using the same 30-second intervals. Stir until smooth and melted.
  5. Spoon the melted white chocolate into a small piping bag or a zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner. Drizzle the white chocolate in a spiral pattern over the dark chocolate base, starting from the center and working outward.
  6. Using a toothpick or skewer, drag from the center of the spiral outward to the edges (like spokes on a wheel), then drag from the edges back toward the center, spacing lines about an inch apart. Repeat 5-6 times in each direction.
  7. If using black food coloring, stir a few drops into the remaining white chocolate until dark gray or black. Spoon into another small bag, snip the corner, and pipe small spider shapes onto the bark. Let set for a minute.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm. Do not leave longer than 30 minutes.
  9. Once set, lift the parchment paper off the baking sheet. Break the bark into irregular pieces with your hands.

Notes

The white chocolate drizzle can be finicky; if it thickens, microwave for 5 seconds to loosen. Work quickly once dark chocolate is spread—you have about 5 minutes of working time. For best results, use a light touch with the toothpick to create the web pattern. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
