A perfectly balanced sweet-and-salty Halloween snack mix that’s ready in 10 minutes with no oven required. This crowd-pleasing combination of crispy cereal, salty pretzels, candy corn, and peanuts is the ultimate last-minute party treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn)
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
  • 1/2 cup candy pumpkin candies (optional)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace. Clear off your counter and grab your large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the Chex cereal. Pour 3 cups (about 90g) of Rice Chex into the bowl. Spread it out a little so it forms an even base.
  3. Add the mini pretzels. Toss in 2 cups (about 100g) of mini pretzel twists. Don’t crush them.
  4. Add the peanuts. Sprinkle in 1 cup (about 140g) of salted peanuts. Spread them evenly.
  5. Add the candy corn. Pour in 1 cup (about 200g) of candy corn. Distribute somewhat evenly.
  6. Add the peanut butter chips. Scatter 1/2 cup (about 85g) of peanut butter chips over the top.
  7. Add the candy pumpkins (optional). If using, toss them in now with a gentle fold.
  8. Toss everything together. Using a wooden spoon or clean hands, gently toss all ingredients until evenly distributed, about 30-45 seconds.
  9. Optional powdered sugar dusting. Put powdered sugar in a fine-mesh strainer and lightly dust over the top. Toss once more gently.
  10. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Do not refrigerate. The mix tastes even better the next day as flavors meld. For best texture, ensure pretzels and peanuts are fresh and crunchy. If candy corn is sticky, refrigerate for 15 minutes before mixing. For a gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free Chex and gluten-free pretzels. For a nut-free version, swap peanuts for roasted pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds and use butterscotch chips instead of peanut butter chips.
