Fun, ridiculously easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in golden, buttery crescent dough with mustard eyes. Perfect for parties and guaranteed to make everyone smile.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size, all-beef recommended)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for the eyes)
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Open the can of crescent dough by pressing the can against the edge of your counter to pop the seam. Roll it out carefully.
  4. Separate the dough into 4 rectangles by pinching the perforated seams together to seal them.
  5. Cut each rectangle lengthwise into 3 or 4 thin strips (about 1/4-inch wide) using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  6. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog at a slight angle, like wrapping a bandage. Leave a small gap at the top for the eyes. Press the ends gently onto the hot dog to seal. Repeat with remaining hot dogs (about 3-4 strips per hot dog).
  7. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one.
  8. Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to make an egg wash. Brush generously over each wrapped hot dog.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed up and the hot dogs are heated through.
  10. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes.
  11. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, place a tiny dot of mustard or ketchup on the exposed part of the hot dog for the eyes.
  12. Serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t wrap the dough too tightly or it will tear as it bakes. Press the ends firmly to prevent unraveling. For extra crispy dough, brush with melted butter instead of egg wash. Can be prepped up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Unbaked mummies can be frozen for up to 2 months.
