These warm, buttery apple dumplings are wrapped in crescent rolls and baked in a sweet, caramelized Mountain Dew sauce. They’re quick, easy, and perfect for cozy nights or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples
  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Mountain Dew (original, not diet)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish lightly with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Peel the apples, cut each in half, and remove the core. Slice each half into 4 even wedges (16 wedges total).
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles. Gently stretch each triangle slightly.
  4. Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each crescent triangle. Roll the dough around the apple, tuck the point underneath, and place seam-side down in the prepared dish. Arrange in two rows of four.
  5. Lightly dust the tops of the dumplings with a pinch of cinnamon.
  6. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 2-3 minutes until smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
  7. Slowly pour the Mountain Dew into the butter mixture while whisking until smooth.
  8. Pour the sauce evenly over the dumplings. Sprinkle with nuts if using.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until tops are golden brown and sauce is bubbling and thickened. Rotate the dish halfway through.
  10. Let cool in the dish for 5-10 minutes. Serve warm with extra sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Don’t overfill the crescent rolls—one wedge per roll is perfect. Use room-temperature crescent dough to prevent cracking. The sauce will look thin before baking but thickens into a caramel-like syrup. Rotate the dish halfway through baking for even browning. Let dumplings rest for 5-10 minutes after baking so the sauce thickens slightly.
