This quick and easy candy corn popcorn with white chocolate drizzle is the perfect Halloween party snack. It combines crunchy popcorn, chewy candy corn, and a snappy white chocolate shell for an irresistible salty-sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels, or one standard bag of microwave popcorn)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for popping)
  • 1 1/2 cups candy corn
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup salted peanuts (optional)
  • Festive sprinkles (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn. If using stovetop kernels, heat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add 3 kernels and wait for them to pop. Once they do, add the remaining 1/2 cup kernels, cover, and shake the pot occasionally until the popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops (about 3-4 minutes). Pour into a large bowl and remove any unpopped kernels. If using microwave popcorn, pop according to package directions, then open the bag and let it cool for 2 minutes.
  2. Spread the popcorn on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat in an even layer. Remove any unpopped kernels.
  3. Scatter 1 1/2 cups of candy corn evenly over the popcorn. Gently toss with your hands to distribute the candy corn throughout the popcorn.
  4. Melt the white chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth and fully melted (about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes total). Be careful not to overheat.
  5. Using a fork or small whisk, drizzle the melted white chocolate back and forth over the popcorn and candy corn mixture in a zigzag pattern. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of chocolate for a final drizzle later.
  6. Let the chocolate set at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes, or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until firm.
  7. Once the chocolate is set, gently break the popcorn into clusters. Transfer to a serving bowl or store in an airtight container.
  8. If desired, reheat the reserved melted chocolate (15 seconds in the microwave) and drizzle over the top of the finished clusters for a professional look.

Notes

For best results, use plain or lightly salted popcorn. Avoid heavily buttered popcorn as the extra oil can make the chocolate slide off. If the white chocolate seizes, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Do not refrigerate long-term as the popcorn will absorb moisture and lose its crunch.
