These adorable mummy hot dogs are a fun and easy Halloween treat made with crescent dough. They come together in under 25 minutes and are perfect for parties, weeknight dinners, or any spooky celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: Mustard or ketchup for the eyes
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds
  • Optional: Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel.
  3. Carefully unroll the crescent dough onto your cutting board. If using perforated triangles, gently press the seams together to create one solid sheet.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into 8 to 10 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  5. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, starting at one end. Leave a small gap at the top for the ‘face.’ Overlap the dough slightly as you go. Press the end of the dough gently to seal it. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  6. Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each one.
  7. Melt the tablespoon of butter in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, gently brush the top of each mummy with the melted butter.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Remove the mummies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 2 to 3 minutes. While still warm, use a toothpick to dab a tiny bit of mustard or ketchup on the exposed hot dog to make the eyes.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Do not over-wrap the hot dogs; leave a small gap for the face. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup. Bake time may vary; start checking at 10 minutes. Can be assembled a day in advance and refrigerated.
