Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Brie cheese (double or triple cream)
  • 6 oz Aged sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz Goat cheese log (e.g., Montchevre)
  • 4 oz Prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz Salami (e.g., Genoa), sliced thick
  • 4 oz Soppressata (optional, for spicy kick)
  • 1/2 cup Fig jam (e.g., Bonne Maman Fig Preserves)
  • 4–6 Fresh figs, halved (or dried figs if not in season)
  • 1 cup Green or red grapes
  • 1/2 cup Dried apricots
  • 8 oz Assorted crackers (water crackers, buttery rounds, seedy crisps; e.g., Mary’s Gone Crackers for gluten-free)
  • 1 small Baguette, sliced and toasted
  • 1/2 cup Walnuts, toasted
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
  • Honey (for drizzling)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients (5 minutes): Take cheeses out of refrigerator 20-30 minutes before starting. Slice baguette and toast if desired. Halve fresh figs. Rinse and dry grapes. Toast walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Set aside.
  2. Place your bowls (2 minutes): Position small bowls on the board. Place fig jam in a bowl near center-left or center-right. Put honey in another small bowl. Arrange toasted walnuts in a third bowl. Space them out for structure.
  3. Add the cheeses (3 minutes): Place brie wheel whole on the board. Slice aged cheddar into thin triangles or cubes and fan them out. Place goat cheese log on the board (optional: roll in chopped herbs or cracked black pepper). Space cheeses out for easy access.
  4. Layer the meats (3 minutes): Fold prosciutto slices into loose ribbons or waves and place near brie. Fold salami slices in half, then in half again, and arrange near cheddar. Repeat with soppressata if using. Create volume and texture.
  5. Fill in with fruits and crackers (5 minutes): Scatter fresh fig halves and dried apricots around the board. Place small clusters of grapes in a few spots. Add crackers around cheeses and meats, using a mix of shapes and sizes. Overlap slightly for an abundant look.
  6. Add the final touches (2 minutes): Place toasted baguette slices in a small pile or fan them out. Sprinkle toasted walnuts in empty spaces. Drizzle honey over brie and goat cheese. Finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt over the whole board. Tuck rosemary sprigs around for color and fragrance.
  7. Serve immediately: Place board in the center of the table. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Room temperature cheese is essential for flavor. Take cheeses out 20-30 minutes before serving. For a vegetarian version, skip the meats and add roasted red peppers, marinated artichoke hearts, and olives. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crackers and baguette. To prevent soggy crackers, add them just before serving. Leftovers can be stored separately: wrap cheeses in wax paper, store meats in an airtight container, and keep crackers in an airtight container.
