This cozy caramel apple sangria with cinnamon sticks is the perfect fall drink. It combines crisp apple cider, smooth white wine, and a ribbon of caramel for a comforting, crowd-pleasing beverage that tastes like autumn in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 2 cups apple cider (unfiltered preferred)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade, warmed)
  • 1/4 cup apple brandy or Calvados (optional)
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 large Honeycrisp or Fuji apple (cored and thinly sliced)
  • 1 Bosc pear (cored and thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 lemon (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Ice or chilled sparkling water (club soda or ginger ale, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Warm the caramel sauce: Spoon the 1/2 cup of caramel sauce into a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 15-20 seconds until loose and pourable.
  2. Slice the fruit: Core the apple and pear, then slice into thin rounds or half-moons. Toss with a squeeze of lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. Combine the liquids: In a large pitcher, pour the entire bottle of white wine, 2 cups of apple cider, and 1/4 cup of apple brandy (if using). Stir gently.
  4. Add the warm caramel: Slowly drizzle the warmed caramel into the pitcher while stirring continuously for about 30 seconds until fully incorporated.
  5. Add the fruit and cinnamon: Drop in the sliced apples, pears, lemon rounds, and 2-3 cinnamon sticks. Stir gently to distribute.
  6. Taste and adjust: Taste the sangria. If needed, add honey or maple syrup one tablespoon at a time. If more cinnamon flavor is desired, break one stick in half.
  7. Chill for at least 2 hours: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate. For best results, chill overnight.
  8. Serve over ice or with sparkling water: Fill glasses with ice, pour the sangria, and top with a splash of club soda or ginger ale if desired. Ensure each glass gets fruit and a cinnamon stick for garnish. Stir before each pour.

Notes

Warm the caramel sauce before adding to prevent clumping. Use a dry white wine to balance sweetness. For best flavor, chill overnight. Stir before each pour as fruit and caramel settle. To make a mocktail, replace wine with white grape juice or non-alcoholic sparkling wine and skip the brandy.
