A sweet and salty snack mix featuring roasted pecans, mini pretzels, and candy corn, coated in a cinnamon-butter mixture. Perfect for fall gatherings and incredibly easy to make.

  • 3 cups pecan halves (about 340g)
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists (about 100g)
  • 1 ½ cups candy corn (about 225g)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (56g)
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed (50g)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Optional: ½ cup dried cranberries
  • Optional: ½ cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt ¼ cup unsalted butter and ¼ cup packed light brown sugar, stirring constantly until smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups pecan halves and 2 cups mini pretzel twists. Pour the warm butter-brown sugar mixture over the top and stir gently until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Spread the coated pecan and pretzel mixture in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, stirring halfway through (at 6 minutes), until pecans are slightly darker and smell nutty and toasty.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes. The mixture will crisp as it cools.
  7. Once completely cool, transfer to a large bowl. Add 1 ½ cups candy corn and toss gently to combine. If using dried cranberries or chocolate chips, stir them in now.
  8. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon salt over the top and toss once more. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
  9. Let the snack mix sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Do not add candy corn while the mix is still warm, or it will melt. For best texture, cool completely before adding candy corn. The mix tastes even better the next day. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
