Watermelon Jalapeño Agua Fresca - featured image

A quick and easy summer drink combining sweet watermelon with a subtle spicy kick from jalapeño, balanced with fresh lime juice and a touch of agave syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1 small jalapeño, sliced (seeds removed for milder heat)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from about 1 lime)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey
  • 2 cups (480ml) cold water
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish or muddling)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cube about 4 cups (600g) of seedless watermelon and slice 1 small jalapeño, removing seeds for less heat. Wash and juice 1 lime to yield about 2 tablespoons of fresh juice.
  2. Add the watermelon cubes, sliced jalapeño, fresh lime juice, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of agave syrup or honey into your blender. Pour in 2 cups (480ml) of cold water.
  3. Blend on high until smooth and well combined, resulting in a vibrant pink liquid with a hint of green from the jalapeño slices.
  4. Optional: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher for a silky smooth texture, pressing the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible. Skip this step if you prefer some pulp.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice by adding more agave/honey or cold water as needed.
  6. Serve immediately over ice cubes in tall glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Adjust jalapeño quantity to control spice level; removing seeds reduces heat. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Chill watermelon and water beforehand for a colder drink. Can be stored refrigerated up to 24 hours; stir before serving. For a fizzy twist, add sparkling water before serving.
