A quick and easy whipped cappuccino recipe using pantry staples that costs under $1, delivering a creamy, frothy coffee experience perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (not boiling)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold milk (whole milk or plant-based alternative)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine instant coffee powder, granulated sugar, and milk powder.
  2. Pour in hot water and stir until a smooth, thick paste forms.
  3. Whip the coffee paste vigorously with a hand whisk or electric mixer until it lightens in color and forms soft peaks, about 3–5 minutes.
  4. Heat the milk until warm but not boiling (about 140°F / 60°C) or use cold milk for an iced version.
  5. Pour the milk into a serving glass or mug.
  6. Spoon the whipped coffee foam generously over the milk.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle cocoa powder or cinnamon on top.
  8. Enjoy immediately, stirring gently before sipping if desired.

Notes

Use just off-boil water to dissolve coffee and sugar properly. Whip until soft peaks form for best foam stability. Warm milk blends best with foam, but cold milk works for iced versions. Foam is best enjoyed immediately as it deflates after 10-15 minutes. Milk powder adds creaminess and foam stability; can be swapped with sweetened condensed milk for a richer taste but increases cost.
