  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for cinnamon sugar crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron for 5 minutes until fully hot.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs lightly. Add milk, vegetable oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; batter should be slightly lumpy.
  5. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl or jar for the cinnamon sugar crust.
  6. Brush a thin layer of oil on the waffle iron plates, then sprinkle a generous tablespoon or two of the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the surface.
  7. Pour about ½ cup of batter onto the waffle iron. Close the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes until waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  8. Carefully remove waffles with a spatula and place on a wire rack. Repeat brushing oil and sprinkling cinnamon sugar before each batch.
  9. Serve warm with butter, maple syrup, or whipped cream as desired.
